It was a great weekend of racing for our athletes who competed around the world! We had athletes race in the ITU Age Group World Championships, Ironman Atlantic City 70.3, Richmond Rox Triathlons, Buzzard’s Bay Sprint Triathlon, Nittany Lion Cross Race, Savageman, Toughkids Championship Triathlon, Rappahannock Rough Ride 60 Mile ride, Fox Valley Half Marathon, Iron Kids Georgia Triathlon and the Reesestrong 5k! Congratulations team!
Huge congratulations to Katie Palavecino who had a big PR at the Atlantic City Ironman 70.3 placing 3rd in her age group and 7th overall. She qualified for the 2017 Ironman 70.3 World Championships!
Bill Deaton and Jeff Mcintyre raced the Savageman 50.0, in which they raced the challenging sprint and Olympic distance races consecutively. Bill grabbed a third place in his age group.
Also congratulations to Jeff Mcintyre for having a great race at the New River Gorge SUP race!
Joshua Gray participated in the Middle School 4K Pole Green XC Classic and got 2nd place with a time of 16:27.47.
The Richmond Rox Triathlon had a great showing from EF athletes. Don Wilhelm won his age group in the sprint. Lindsay King was 2nd in her age group. Coach Dane was 3rd in his age group. Coach Parker and Lucille O’neil raced the Olympic relay together – Lucille had a 7:40 PR on the same course to help them win the overall relay and have the 8th fastest time in the entire race! Kevin Chidwick had a solid race in the Half distance.
Matt Schiller was 1st overall in the Buzzard’s Bay Sprint Triathlon!
Kieran Haug won the overall in the series finale of the Tough Kids Youth Triathlon Series. Additionally, Ava Larkin was 1st in her age group and 3rd overall.
Sid Abrhams had a strong ride at the Rappahannock Rough Ride 60 Mile ride.
Coleson Lindsay, Presley Evans, Greg Schott, and Scott Evans raced Nittany Lion Cross. Presley podiumed with a 3rd on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday – strong races by all!
Erika Jurkowski had a really strong first half marathon, the Fox Valley Half Marathon, a week after finishing her first half IM.
Coach Kate Fisher finished 10th in her age group at ITU Sprint World Championships!
In Alpharetta Georgia there were a total of 800 kids racing in the Iron Kids triathlon. The EF team of 12 kids placed third in the overall team category. We had nine podium finishes with eight first-place finishes. Hope Frost, Tate Frost, Lucy Nunziata, Gabe Nunziata, Eve Frost, Ian Hasheider, Josie Nunziata and Lily Stimson were all 1st in their age groups. Jimmy Beard was 2nd in his age group. Colin Hasheider was 4th in his age group and Tommy Beard had a great race!
At the Reesestrong 5k Coach Ryan had a great PR and the overall win! Heather Williams was 2nd overall with a PR! Jackson Wright had a great race!
