Tons of great results to report on from races this weekend including Smithfield Sprint, Tour de Pochahontas, RIR Crit, NSCA Nationals, and a variety of running races.
At the Smithfield Sprint, Coach Kate Fisher took 3rd overall and Coach Parker Spencer 4th overall. Bill Deaton was 2nd overall in the Masters division. Brad Johnson was 3rd in the Clydesdale division. Alex Tan, Julie Julian, and Scott Evans won their age groups while Anna Walter and Lori Green took 2nd. Allyson Wolf took 3rd in her age group. Matt Myers set a huge PR of 5.5 minutes to finish 7th in his age group. In the Collegiate division, Matthew Piper took 13th and Stephen Tan 21st against strong competition.
At the VORS Tour de Pocahontas, Emily Bashton made a strong return to racing after surgery.
Sidney Abrams finished the Triple Century Chef’s Ride enduring 12,500 feet of climbing and 109 degree temperatures!
EF athletes had lots of success at several running races this weekend. Lucy Poh and Kylie Bonser each won their respective events at their middle school track meets. Melanie Frank had a very strong race at the Bakers Dozen Half Marathon in Montclair NJ. Sarah Look ran a huge PR at the Richmond SPCA 5k! Robert Allen had a strong race at the Wrightsville Beach Marathon. Marc Gomez did very well at the Marine Corps 17.75k. John Howe and Justin raced with United Athletics and had a great race at the Deltaville 5k.
At the RIR Crit, Samantha Kayne finished 1st in the Junior 9-14 category, Presley Evans took 4th in the Junior 9-14 category, and Coleson Lindsay took 5th in Cat 5.
Fresh off the Age Group Champs in Blacksburg, Samantha Kayne qualified for NSCA National Championships in Orlando, FL where she swam impressive preliminary rounds and made 11-year old Finals in 50 Breast, 100 Breast, and 200 Breast. After swimming in Finals, she took 2nd in 100, 4th in 200, and 5th in 50.
