We have a ton of races to report on this week, including the Storming of Thunder Ridge, IM Chattanooga, Xterra Sprint Triathlon, and the Virginia Senior Games, along with many high school track meets, and races all along the east coast, from Pennsylvania to North Carolina! Congrats to all athletes who raced- let’s get started!

At the VA Senior Games, Jim Fuller took home to gold medal in his age group, advancing him to nationals with a chance to qualify for the Senior Olympics!  Way to go Jim! Lucille O’Neil also competed, racing in two events. She had two races back to back, the first being a 5k Time Trial and the second a 20k road race. Lucille started her day strong by earning 1st place in the time trial, then came back and won again in the road race with an incredible sprint finish, beating the competition by 0.1 seconds! Her wins earned her entrance to Nationals! Lucille topped the weekend off with participating in the Storming of Thunder Ridge 75 mile ride. Also at the Storming of Thunder Ridge, Kelly Britt got in some good training for Ironman Lake Placid!

Karl Lipscomb finished 3rd in his age group in very challenging course conditions at the Xterra Charlottesville Olympic distance race.  Sandrine Thominet took 1st Overall Female at Xterra Sprint Triathlon Charlottesville

At the Urban Assault Mountain Bike Race, EF juniors had a strong showing.  Rex Nguyen took 3rd overall in the expert division, Caleb McCaskill took 2nd in Junior expert division, and Jake Dysart took 2nd in Sport Men division.

On Sunday, Sadé raced the Upper Dublin Duathlon in Fort Washington, PA. Sadé won overall female and placed 8th in men/womens combined.

Hope Frost upset the top seed in both the 1600 and 3200 at the VISAA Outdoor State Champs to become a double state champion as a freshman this weekend!

Ramsey Bloodworth competed in Ironman Chattanooga 70.3 this weekend and conquered the race despite hot temperatures. Ramsey had a great swim and very strong bike leg, and pushed through a tough run fighting the heat. Way to go!

Christian Locke competed in Saint Mary’s Olympic Triathlon and snagged 2nd in his Age Group as well as 10th place overall male. Christian is taking great strides in his physical performance, as well as learning how to mentally prepare for and execute a race!

Matthew Schiller competed in the General Smallwood Olympic Triathlon and took 1st place overall, with a standout running performance. Coming off a strong bike and swim, Matt overtook, then put more time on the man that had been leading the bike. Way to bring it home strong!

At the Historic Half, Michelle Fang ran well to battle through a tough course in humid conditions!

Jean Kleitz took 2nd overall female at General Smallwood Sprint.

Sam Kayne raced in a combined field of boys and girls at the Kelly Cup/Bike Jam Crit in Baltimore and took 1st in Girls 13-14 and placed 6th overall.  The day before, she swam in her first 13-14 long course swim meet and took 4th on Breast and swam her very first 800 Free, finishing strong and coming in 15th. Congrats Sam!

Jill Tarr completed the epic Asheville Mavic Haute 3-Day Stage Race taking 1st in her age group, way to go Jill!

Kieran Haug and Alexandra Poole had strong track meets this weekend with Kieran also finishing well in his swim meet as well.  

At the Tar Heel Youth Triathlon, we had multiple strong age group results. Eve Frost took 1st and Josie Nunziata took 2nd in their age group, Colin Hashieder took 2nd in his, Ian Hashieder took 6th in his, Lucy Nunziata took 1st in hers, and in the 11-12 group, Gabe Nunziata took 3rd with Casey Hough in 6th.

At mid week track meets, Logan White ran a strong 1600 coming in at 6:03, Joshua Gray took 2nd overall in the 1600!
