Race Results 10/7-10/8

Our athletes had strong races all over this weekend. Races include middle and high school XC meets, Crawlin Crab Half Marathon, Valley Vines Twilight 5k, Kona Path 5k, Charm City Cross, Chicago Marathon, RVA6 Mountain Bike Race, and the Healthy Kids Running Series!

Big week for several of our athletes in their middle and high school XC meets. Carson Everman met a long-time goal of breaking 21 minutes in a 5k with a 20:53 at the Jesse Owens Meet. Alexandra Poole set a 1 minute PR taking 4th place with a big breakthrough at an invitational in Connecticut. Paige Lind set a 1 minute course PR at her meet last Tuesday. Cooper Albright broke the 17 minute barrier for the first time going 16:46 at the Great American Invitational. Logan White also had a strong result.Kylie Bonser set the course record at her middle school cross country meet, with Lucy Poh coming in a strong 4th.

Despite the heat and humidity at the Crawlin Crab Half Marathon, Maggie Geohagen, Michelle Fang, and Matt Winheim all finished strong.

Coach Erin Horil continued her impressive winning streak with an overall women’s win and 4th overall including men at the Valley Vines Twilight 5k.

Parker Albright is in Kona with her dad who will race the Ironman World Championships next weekend.   This weekend, she raced the infamous Kona Path 5k finishing 2nd overall only 5 seconds behind an Rio Olympics triathlete.

Presley Evans opened up cyclocross season with two strong back-to-back races at Charm City Cross.  Presley took 4th on day 1 and 5th on day 2.

Melanie Frank had a pushed hard and had a strong finish at the Chicago Marathon.

Jake Dysart and Caleb McGaskill raced the RVA6 Mountain Bike Race in the men’s duo division.  This is a 6 hour mountain bike race where partners alternate racing.  They raced super strong taking 2nd!

On Sunday evening, we had many youth athletes participate in the Healthy Kids Running Series. They all had very strong races, once again. Colby Harlow took 10th in the Pre-K race. Emma Ronnau, Hattie Wells, and Lane Jacobs went 1,2,3 followed by Emmerson Beazley with a strong first race to take 7th in the K-1st race; Zach Fisher took 1st with a :27 PR and Stephens Rabb took 3rd with a :28 PR in the boy’s 2nd-3rd grade race; Ellie Harlow 2nd with a :03 PR, Andrea Rogerson 3rd, Hadley Harlow 4th, and Austin Harlow 6th in the girl’s 2nd-3rd grade race; Patrick Harlow 1st with a :23 PR, Theo Conradie 2nd with a :05 PR, Caleb Harlow 3rd, and Cannen Harlow 6th in the boy’s 4th-5th grade race; Hazel Wells 1st with a :07 PR, Maddie Fisher 2nd, and Annika Rogerson 10th in the girl’s 4th-5th grade race; Luke Craven 2nd in the boy’s middle school race; and Annaliese Rogerson 2nd with a :04 PR in the girl’s middle school race.
