Our athlete of the week is Paul Croston! Paul has been training with Endorphin for almost two years, and initially became interested in triathlon after watching the Kona World Championship documentary. Seeing athletes compete on such a grand stage made Paul want to push himself to reach what almost seemed like an “unattainable” goal. However, his coaching at EF has helped him push through the difficulties and work towards his goals.
Paul’s main goal for this season was to finish the Lake Placid Ironman, and he crushed that recently. Despite facing the setback of a bike crash which hospitalized him and put him out of IM Chattanooga, Paul shifted his focus to Placid and completed the full Ironman distance with a strong race.
Paul credits coach Ryan’s positive attitude and encouragement through the training process as a huge motivation in reaching his goals. Although Paul at times doubted his own ability to achieve the goals, Ryan never doubted him and always encouraged Paul to train hard and accomplish his goals in racing.
The advice Paul gives to beginners is in line with this- get started in the sport and don’t ever stop! We can’t wait to see what goals Paul will crush next!
