Many athletes wrapped up their triathlon season this weekend with some very solid performances. We had atheltes race in the Giant Acorn Sprint and Olympic triathlons, Ironman Chattanooga, Ironman Augusta 70.3, Westchester Olympic, Lanier Triathlon, Trailes & Ales 5k, Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote, Healthy Kids Run Series, Sykelo CX, Broad Street Mile as well as several high school swim and cross country meets.

We had strong race at the Giant Acorn Sprint and Olympic. Thomas Sonnery and Megan Merryman both finished 1st overall against a very competitive collegiate field in the olympic race. The rest of our Liberty University athletes had strong races with many of them completing their first olympic triathlon. Dawn Carter, Maggie Christie, Cory Fines, Anne Sheehy and Mary Jane Willis also had strong races.

In the Sprint, Coach Michael Harlow and Abigail Church both won overall. Darren Barlow finished 2nd overall in his 1st ever triathlon behind Coach Michael. Coach Kate took 2nd overall masters with a strong race. Bailey Fouse won his age group. Scott Evans was 1st in his age group and 7th overall. Allyson Wolf finished out a great season winning her age group and 10th overall.

Karl Lipscomb is now an Ironman after surviving the brutal heat of the day!

Andrew Rose had a solid race at Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote, one of the toughest 70.3 courses in the world.

John Howe kicked another item off his with bucket list with an amazing finish at Augusta 70.3.

Matt Schiller finished off his breakthrough season with a 3rd overall placing at the Westchester Olympic Triathlon in Rye, NY. Alex Cancado raced his strongest race this year at the same event placing 4th at the very competitive .

Carson Everman had a super strong race at the Lanier Triathlon taking an impressive 2nd overall.

Nik Stratiou raced the Trails & Ales 5k taking 1st in his age group!

The EF youth team raced awesome at the first race of the Healthy Kids Run Series. In the pre-k race, Colby Harlow took 10th place. In the K-1st race, Brown Ukrop took the win with a strong sprint followed by Zach Fisher in 7th. On the girl’s side, Ellie Harlow took 5th. In the 2nd-3rd grade race, Riggs Ukrop took 3rd, Brody Savage 4th, Ethan Wallace 5th, and Cannen Harlow 10th. On the girl’s side, Hadley Harlow finished 8th followed by Austin Harlow in 9th. In the 4th-5th grade race, Luke Craven crossed the line in 2nd followed by Ian Henderson in 4th, Patrick Harlow 5th, Colby Wallace 6th, and Caleb Harlow 11th. On the girl’s side, Maddie Fisher took 2nd followed by Hazel Wells in 5th and Lauren Donald in 5th. In the middle school race, Annie Ripol took 1st followed by Caroline Donald in 4th. Congrats to all!

We had several Cross Country races this past week with EF athletes racing strong. Ben Poling and Liam Savage had strong races this past Tuesday in super muddy conditions. Emily Whitty had a great showing at the Hermitage High School Cross Country meet with a 3rd place overall finish. Hannah Hall and Eloise de Landevoison had strong races this weekend with Hannah setting a new 5k PR.

Matthew Piper ran the Broad Street Mile taking 14th overall and 3rd in his age group.

Bella Burke, Maddie Fisher, and Presley Evans all opened up the swim season with big races. Both Presley and Maddie set several big PRs.

In the Sykelo CX race Sade’ Smith was 9th Cat 4 women, Kai Dove was 6th Junior boys 13-14 and Mason Dove was 14th Boys 11-12
