The EF Youth Team had an amazing weekend at Youth & Junior Triathlon Nationals.  In summary, we crowned 7 individual national champions, placed 13 in the top 3, and had 31 place in the top 10 over the course of the weekend.  In addition, our team took home the national title in the team competition setting EF apart as the top youth program in the country.  We could not be more proud of our athletes who we will highlight below:

 

The Youth & Junior Elite races kicked off the weekend on Saturday.  In the Youth Elite Girls Race, we had 5 girls come off the bike in the front pack with Parker Albright running away with the win to claim her 2nd national title followed by Abigail Church in 2nd, Hannah Ye in 7th, Zoe Van Winckel 11th, Alexandra Poole 18th, Megan Buchanan 24th, Paige Lind 25th, Hope Frost 29th, Eloise de Landevoisin Campbell 34th, and Jordan Pham 67th.   In the Youth Elite Boys Race, Coleson Lindsey had a standout race taking 10th followed by Nick Pilgrim in 27th, Otto Gerstl 48th, Luke Rosser 56th, and Ben Poling 63rd (after 2 crashes).  In the Junior Elite Girls Race, Grace Sheehy finished strong in 20th followed by Chloe Ramirez in 26th, Lexi Christie 30th, Maya Sweeney 45th, Kaitlyn Yasnowsky 52nd, Carson Everman 56th, and Marisa Ruotolo 67th. In the Junior Elite Boys Race, Justin Free came from the first chase pack to finish 41st followed by Tyler Finnegan in 60th.

 

On Sunday, the Youth Age Groupers took the stage and stole it.  Congratulations to the following top 10 finishers in their age group:

2nd: Zach Fisher, Gabe Nunziata, Presley Evans, Kai Dove

3rd: Ian Henderson

4th: Maddie Fisher

5th: Samantha Kayne, Olivia Christie

6th: Mikaela Garza, Sarah Ruotolo

7th: Colin Hasheider, Lily Stimson, Lucy Nunciata, Jenna Free

8th: Tate Frost, Jack Rosser, Isabella Larkin

9th: Jimmy Beard

10th: Roman Steis, Joshua Gray, Annalise Williams

 

Also, super strong races from Cori Johnson (13th), Jude Gillespie (16th), Ian Hasheider (17th), Caroline Osenga (21st), Chandler Evans (24th), Luke Craven (27th), Sidney Ramirez (30th), Lucas Van Winckel (31st), Tommy Beard (38th), Caleb Harlow (41st), and Casey Hough (45th).

 

In the Moonlight 4 Miler:

Monica Woodward: 7th in her age group (35-39) with a time of 37:05.42
Dawn Carter: 16th in her age group (45-49) with a time of 51:08.76
Matt Meyers: 5th in his age group (35-39) with a time of 32:13.57
Erin Horil: 1st overall female with a time of 25:10
Honorable Mention: Danny Woodward (Monica’s husband) won his age group (35-59) with a time of 24:09.53

Eric Glymph placed 2nd in the aquabike division at the Culpeper International.

 

Jason Elliott got 14th in his age group for a mountain bike race over the 4 local, grueling mountains in Aspen, Colorado.

 

Sander Elliot got 6th in the 14-18 y/o age group for the Power of 2 Bike Race in the local 2 mountains of Aspen, Colorado. After flatting 3 times, his determination to finish deserves special attention.

Natacha Lam had a great finish at Boulder 70.3

Stephen Tan got 3rd overall at Culpeper Sprint.
